What is the Final AcCountdown?

The Final AcCountdown was created for CQUniversity’s ACCT11059 unit in Semester 1, 2016. This blog will chronicle my journey studying the foundations of accounting and how it guides business decisions, while also looking at the experiences of others, and finding inspiration from leaders, thinkers, and doers.

I’m pleased to leave this blog up for current and future students studying ACCT11059 to follow my learning journey, and, perhaps even help you navigate the course and find your own voice. I will also update from time to time – don’t be a stranger, I love reading your comments!

Who am I?

My name is Amy Plant and I’m a student at CQUniversity, based in Perth, Western Australia.  I’ve been working in the arts and creative industries for over a decade and decided to return to study for change, enrichment, and basically a bit of brain food!

In 2016 I was lucky to be awarded a Global Voices Scholarship supported by CQU, to attend the United Nations High Level Political Forum in New York to discuss the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. My focus area for the Forum was the nexus between sustainable cultural tourism and innovative approaches to the preservation of built and intangible cultural heritage. You can read my paper here. Since, the Forum, I have become an advocate for Global Goals Australia. I am also a curator for the international online visitor guide, On the Grid, which encourages a more meaningful tourism experience of neighborhoods from around the globe.

Earlier this year, I was elected to the Student Representative Council (SRC) as the Western Australian Region Higher Education Representative. If you’re a student in Western Australia and want to get in contact, you can connect with me on LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram. Read about what the SRC does here.

  3. Hi Amy

The name ‘thefinalaccountdown’ was an awesome choice, even though I am sure I am going to have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

I look forward to studying with you in the upcoming semester.

  6. […] The Final ACountdown  – Amy your very witty and I know you have been top 3 for many others in the course so well done. I think  the content is great and very engaging. You would have been my number 2 if there was a little more visual content, given your in the visual arts sector maybe my expectation was a little too high. Either way you have such insight and I would love to pick your brain. […]

  7. Hi Amy,

My favourite (and this also seems to be a lot of others’ favourite) is your well-written, punny blog. Your style of writing is very captivating and the layout of your blog is simple and easy to navigate.

I also laugh every time I read the blog title, thanks to Arrested Development. I can just picture Gob doing his illusion routine or his chicken dance haha

    Good work!
